Vintage Authentic Hermès “Grande Tenue” Scarf

This vintage scarf is from the living estate of my 92 year old aunt who has stated this is authentic. She purchased in 1989-1990. The fabric tag bothered her, so she removed it.

The rolled hem, twill weave, © HERMÈS marking and design details looked appropriate. The care label has been cut off—and authentic examples of Grande Tenue are documented with their care tags removed. 

This authentic Hermès Grande Tenue scarf features a rich navy border surrounding a cream checked background with a striking red center. Golden crowns, heraldic emblems, braided cords and leather strap motifs celebrate Hermès’ equestrian heritage.

Designed by Henri d’Origny, this classic square scarf measures approximately 34 × 34 inches and is in excellent preowned condition. Wear it at the neck, draped over the shoulders or tied to a favorite handbag for a polished finishing touch.
